hooters

I walked by Hooters just before the lunch hour yesterday. It is on the Minneapolis skyway system, a series of interconnected tubes designed to help the urban hamster traverse buildings without the inconvenience of snow and panhandlers. Outside the restaurant I noticed a beautiful young woman wearing the trademark orange shorts that have evolved into butt-cheek revealing briefs. Her breasts stuck proudly out of a skin-tight tank top cut quite low. Inside three girls sat suggestively at the bar. A few men in suits walked in, on a sojourn away from an office that undoubtedly held female coworkers trying to work hard and get promotions. Many people, men and women, nearly all in professional dress, walked by as if nothing was wrong. T&A is but part of our landscape. I stared briefly inside. I wondered if I should cry.

You know, I think that no matter how hard we try to save other people from what we consider inferior fates, there is always a limit. There is always that point when you have to step back and accept their free will, their ultimate responsibility for their own lives.

    You are a beautiful warrior.
